For the third semester of our studies, this was my and Tyler Solomon's main project. Our primary goal was to construct a new residential building on the site of the old “HYP” building in Budapester Straße. We wanted to create a simple but interesting design, and the Zaha Hadid Dominion Tower in Moscow, Russia, served as our key inspiration. The ground floor of our concept had a double-height art gallery, two floors of studios and classrooms, and the top three floors were residential floors with all of the apartments. Our concept included a closed atrium that ran the length of the structure. Our biggest accomplishment was that we didn't use a single column in the entire building, which we managed by using three main cores throughout the center of the structure, which housed all of the elevators, stairs, MEP, and technical rooms. The floor slabs were also built to be 1m thick due to the building's shear size and to accommodate the truss system inside the slabs. The final 3D modeling and renderings were done by me.
